Geological and technical features for the planning of aggregate resource exploitation in the Piedmont plain (Northern Italy).

The constantly increasing need for high quality aggregates which for many years has characterised the mining activity in the plains of Northern Italy, requires complex planning in order to protect the resources, with the goal of the maximum compatibility with the environmental equilibrium of the territory. The object of the research was to define, at a regional level, the geological and technical aspects that mainly influence the mining activity of aggregates in the quaternary deposits of the piedmontese plain.
