Abstract
Recently several designs have evaluated the possibility of replacing steel in vehicle structures by reinforced plastics. Composites would have the foundamental advantage of reducing the number of structural elements required. The present work is the first stage of a project dedicated to the study of composite load bearing structures. A hybrid steel-plastic body, with door frame in composite material and floor in steel has been built and preliminary tests have been conducted. FEM calculations have been carried out for the optimization of the project. The main goal of the project was to verify that an appropriate design and choice of materials could satisfy the structural requirements.Pubblicazioni consigliate
