Approccio in termini di deformazione al problema del contatto di corpi rivestiti

The paper presents a new approach, based on a strain analysis, to the problem of the contact of layered bodies. The advantage of the approach is in the possibility of understanding which are the mechanisms at the basis of the behaviour of layered bodies. It also makes possible to give a rough estimation on the criticality of the film/substrate system by a simple strain analysis. After a review of the hertzian problem, to be used as reference, results are given for the case of layered bodies. Evidence is given on how the strain term may be used to evaluate possible critical situations for films of high elastic modulus.
