Abstract

Developed within the Erasmus+ project "ATELIER – innovATive Education for sociaL Inclusion via codEsign pRactices", this handbook offers a transdisciplinary introduction to co-design for social inclusion. Co-created by the project's eight partners, it is part of a broader Learning Programme designed for students, educators, and early-career professionals. Combining theory, methodologies, case studies, lived experiences, practical guidance, and reflective tools, the volume explores how collaborative design processes can foster projects aiming at inclusion and social impact, and support vulnerable and marginalised communities. Bridging the analytical perspective of the Social Sciences with the transformative potential of Design, the handbook guides readers through 25 concise learning units, each dedicated to a key competence and designed to nurture critical thinking, social research, design thinking, and participatory practices, offering an entry point to meaningful and sustainable pathways for social change.
