Unfolding folding architecture. Deleuze e l’architettura.

Il legame tra Deleuze e l’architettura è tanto indiretto quanto pervasivo. Ricostruendo una trama che si dipana per quattro decenni, fatta di adozioni disinvolte, slittamenti semantici e traduzioni operative, l’articolo indaga la progressiva piega della forma in forma della piega, svelando fragilità e ridondanze. Ne emerge un frame ambiguo, in cui strumenti critici e dispositivi formali tendono a sovrapporsi, deformando presupposti ed esiti. Eppure, se esausti sono i concetti più sfruttati dal mondo architettonico, non lo è il pensiero deleuziano, i cui concetti continuano ad essere sorprendentemente fecondi ed attuali. Un'ulteriore piega, aperta a prospettive future, è indagata nelle parti finali. The connection between Deleuze and architecture is as indirect as it is pervasive. Tracing a trajectory across four decades through loose appropriations, semantic shifts, and operative translations, the article examines the gradual shift from the fold of the form to the form of the fold, bringing to light its fragilities and redundancies. What emerges is an ambiguous frame in which critical tools and formal devices tend to overlap, distorting both premises and outcomes. Nevertheless, while the concepts most exploited within architectural discourse appear exhausted, Deleuzian thought itself is not: its concepts remain remarkably fertile and timely. A further fold, open to future lines of inquiry, is addressed in the final sections.
