The essay examines the proposal by Beniamino Bellati (1895-1953) and Giovanni Dazzi for the 1933 competition to design the Vice Questura building in the Aventino district of Rome. This project represents Bellati’s only design experience during the regime within the Roman architectural context. The design of the vice questura headquarters offers an opportunity to investigate his architectural approach beyond Liguria, while also highlighting the shared elements of architectural language that were prevalent in Italy at the time.
