Traditional urban morphology studies view green spaces as mere “empty space,” ignoring their architectural and design value. Rethinking this view allows us to enhance nature as an active component of architecture, recognizing the more complex ecosystemic and spatial functions of open spaces. This change in perspective can enable urban design to harmoniously integrate nature and the built environment, thus defining new, high-quality urban centers.

Abstract
Traditional urban morphology studies view green spaces as mere “empty space,” ignoring their architectural and design value. Rethinking this view allows us to enhance nature as an active component of architecture, recognizing the more complex ecosystemic and spatial functions of open spaces. This change in perspective can enable urban design to harmoniously integrate nature and the built environment, thus defining new, high-quality urban centers.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
