Mountain areas, characterized by low population density and demographic decline, face critical mobility challenges due to dependence on private motorized transport and limited public transport options. Geographic constraints and dispersed settlements hinder efficient collective mobility, creating social exclusion for those without private vehicles. Recent strategies, such as the RECAP project in the Pinerolo Valley, explore integrating public transport (both fixed-route and demand-responsive) with shared private mobility forms like car-pooling and ride-sharing. These approaches, combined with active mobility initiatives and redesigned community hubs, aim to enhance accessibility and reduce car dependency. Pilot interventions in several municipalities demonstrate how spatial reorganization of transport nodes can foster multimodal integration, strengthen local networks, and promote more sustainable, inclusive mobility in mountain territories.

Abstract
Pilot interventions in several municipalities demonstrate how spatial reorganization of transport nodes can foster multimodal integration, strengthen local networks, and promote more sustainable, inclusive mobility in mountain territories.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
