Outdoor atmospheric environments require gravimetric concentrations for PM10 and PM2.5, while cleanroom indoor environments require count concentrations. However, the testing methods for general ventilation air filters and HEPA filters differ. Therefore, determining the appropriate series configuration for air filters is crucial for the design and operation of practical cleanroom projects. This paper, conducted using an air filter testing platform at Nanjing University of Technology, tested the platform's wind-speed uniformity and the particulate matter and microbial filtration performance of combined filters. The study found that as airflow increased from 1000 m³/h to 3400 m³/h, the total resistance of the filters also increased. The larger the airflow, the steeper the change in the total resistance of the combined filters. The series configuration of a coarse filter, a medium-efficiency filter, and another medium-efficiency filter approached the filtration performance of a single HEPA filter for large particles and microorganisms. A strong correlation exists between the filtration efficiency of air filters for particulate matter and microorganisms. This research provides insights for the evaluation and selection of air filter combination schemes in cleanroom air conditioning systems.
