Venezia 1964 / Nizhny Tagil 2003. La tutela del patrimonio industriale nelle carte del restauro

At the moment of the drafting of the Venice Charter, industrial heritage protection was in its early stages, and required no specific guiding principles. Over time, additions like the 1990 Charter on the Protection and Management of Archeological Heritage, and the 1999 Charter on the Built Vernacular Heritage, emerged within ICOMOS. Post-Venice Charter adoption, industrial divestment propelled industrial heritge into focus. The 2003 Nizhny Tagil Charter by TICCIH applied the Venice Charter principles to industrial heritage, and was followed in 2011 by the ICOMOS - TICCIH Dublin Principles. This contribution traces the evolution from Venice to Nizhny tagil, exploring ongoing discussions amid both charters' significant anniversaries and, in particular, the challenges faced today by the principles of both Nizhny Tagil and the Venice Charter in relation to industrial heritage.
