Simplified component tests may allow greater insight into tribological problems related to components without the need for dedicated test benches. Some illustrative results are also presented.

Abstract
This contribution aims to collect and present some examples of dedicated equipment that was developed in the Laboratory of Mechanics at Politecnico di Torino to perform simplified component tests with a standard pin-on-disc tribometer.
