The Venice Charter has had a significant impact on the archaeological heritage of Germany, which ratified and signed the agreement in 1989. Political difficulties and the challenges of the territory, still damaged after the publication of the Charter, were certainly obstacles in the decades that followed, leading to sometimes uncertain results. Sixty years later, it is possible to reflect on the journey, highlighting the cultural challenges and the commitment of institutions and conservation bodies to find models for the conservation and enhancement of archaeological heritage that are respectful of the past. The contribution therefore examines the salient aspects and the most relevant cases that have determined this process of cultural growth, indicating the most recent results and the strategies undertaken in line with the principles of the Charter.

Abstract
The Venice Charter has had a significant impact on the archaeological heritage of Germany, which ratified and signed the agreement in 1989. Political difficulties and the challenges of the territory, still damaged after the publication of the Charter, were certainly obstacles in the decades that followed, leading to sometimes uncertain results. Sixty years later, it is possible to reflect on the journey, highlighting the cultural challenges and the commitment of institutions and conservation bodies to find models for the conservation and enhancement of archaeological heritage that are respectful of the past. The contribution therefore examines the salient aspects and the most relevant cases that have determined this process of cultural growth, indicating the most recent results and the strategies undertaken in line with the principles of the Charter.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
