Central green forest park

Nel distretto di Tongzhou a Pechino, un ex sito industriale di 550 ettari è stato convertito in un mosaico di foreste urbane che prevede un imponente piano di sviluppo 2016-2035. Il progetto, basandosi sui 24 “termini solari” con cui tradizionalmente viene scandito l’anno in Cina, intende essere una poetica celebrazione della cultura cinese, dello scorrere del tempo e delle ecologie locali. Il contrasto tra la struttura fortemente geometrica e l’atmosfera naturalistica consente di articolare una sequenza dinamica di spazi, funzioni e habitat, rispondendo alle necessità di un pubblico variegato e al contempo favorendo la biodiversità urbana. ---In the Tongzhou district of Beijing, a 550-hectare former industrial site has been converted into a mosaic of urban forests under a massive 2016-2035 development plan. Based on the 24 ‘solar terms’ with which the year is traditionally marked, the project is meant to be a poetic celebration of Chinese culture, the passing of time and local ecologies. The contrast between the overtly artificial geometric structure and the seemingly natural atmosphere allows for the articulation of a dynamic sequence of spaces, functions and habitats, responding to the needs of a heterogeneous public while fostering urban biodiversity.
