Abstract

Among the hospitals created to aid the "socially confined" sick, a still tangible example is represented by the Keelmen's Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, opened in 1701 and intended to treat the elderly, the sick and the widows of the Keelmen. Starting from the study of the historical events, the contribution intends to present the contemporary scenarios for the reuse of the complex, raising questions about the modalities of conservation of an asset of high social value.
