Searching for the right-size for planning cities and territories is a process that, in metropolitan contexts, has shown multiple attempts from the 1950s to the present day. In particular, Turin area was the object of one of the first experiments of inter-municipal planning in Italy in the period 1954-64. The contribution reflects the development model proposed by Turin inter-municipal Plan as a possible response to the intense phenomena of urban sprawl for a more balanced development project.
