As an instrument for constructing collective imagery, cinema has brought to the knowledge of a vast public some extraordinary examples of private 20th-century architecture that would otherwise have remained unknown. Among the best cases in the Mediterranean landscape, there are Casa Malaparte (1938-1942) in Capri, designed by Curzio Malaparte, and La Cupola (1969-1971) in Sardinia, designed by Dante Bini for Michelangelo Antonioni and Monica Vitti, actress, companion and muse of the film director. Since their creation, these specific architectures have received peculiar consideration thanks to the cinema, which continues today to maintain them alive in our memory. The echo cinema generates for its audience has direct effects on the perception of the cultural items recorded in the images, and indirect effects on their conservation. The more architectural works have entered collective imagination, the more the affection for these places has contributed to the awareness for their protection and enhancement.

Abstract
The more architectural works have entered collective imagination, the more the affection for these places has contributed to the awareness for their protection and enhancement.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
