Single chemical reactions that preserve the total number of molecules in a system are considered, and this is expressed by saying that such reactions are stoichiometrically balanced. The study is restricted to those systems whose forward and backward rate constants are equal. The resulting time evolution, for the concentrations of the chemicals, defines a dynamical system (with discrete or continuous time) that is governed by a polynomial map of the interval [B,C], where B≥0 and C≤1. © 1993 American Institute of Physics.

Abstract
Single chemical reactions that preserve the total number of molecules in a system are considered, and this is expressed by saying that such reactions are stoichiometrically balanced. The study is restricted to those systems whose forward and backward rate constants are equal. The resulting time evolution, for the concentrations of the chemicals, defines a dynamical system (with discrete or continuous time) that is governed by a polynomial map of the interval [B,C], where B≥0 and C≤1. © 1993 American Institute of Physics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
