This paper presents a simplified model of a pneumatic positioning system consisting in a cylinder actuated by a 5/3 way proportional valve. The experimental set-up and the model are described along with the experimental procedure used for its identification. Comparison between experimental and numerical results demonstrates that the proposed model has a satisfactory level of accuracy.

Abstract
