The essay explores the theme of the presence of the three Greek epigrams, complete and in Greek for the first time, in the Venetian edition of De architectura, edited by Fra Giovanni Giocondo, 1511 (Vitr., VIII, 3, 21-23) retracing, with new reflections, the passage from the dis-coverer of the texts, Angelo Poliziano, to Giocondo. It is an opportunity to compare the various sixteenth-century translations of the three texts into the national languages, focusing on the very first translation into Italian and in verse by Fabio Calvo who made the volagarization of the Vitruvius treatise for Raphael in 1519. It is also an op-portunity to consider and reconsider the relationship be-tween Fra Giocondo, Giano Lascaris, and Giovan Marco Canozi da Lendinara who helped Giocondo for the en-graved part of the 1511 edition, as well as the presumed role that Marcello Virgilio Adriani had in the discovery of the three epigrams.

Abstract
It is also an op-portunity to consider and reconsider the relationship be-tween Fra Giocondo, Giano Lascaris, and Giovan Marco Canozi da Lendinara who helped Giocondo for the en-graved part of the 1511 edition, as well as the presumed role that Marcello Virgilio Adriani had in the discovery of the three epigrams.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
