Abstract

Ludwig Hoffmann’s 1910 Plan for Athens may be considered as a case study from a purely historical point of view, and a source of inspiration for today’s urban design practice. It is the only town plan developed by Ludwig Hoffmann’s, who was Berliner Stadtbaurat from 1896 to 1924, before the appointment of Martin Wagner, and, among the manifold Early 20th century plans for Athens, it is the only that shows a realistic approach. From the theoretical point of view, it may be read as one of the most complete practical implementations of the town planning ideals supported by , and Walter Curt Behrendt.
