Abstract
In the Civil Engineering industry, design optimization of structural components is often obtained through methods applied on already existing solutions. These methods are based on a “library” approach which allows the selection of materials and dimensions, overlooking where they are located. An optimization procedure coupling FE ANSYS Workbench with modeFRONTIER is presented here: The aim of the work is to optimize the beam’s dimension and location within a steel frame structure, fully modeled through FE beam elements and joint connections; its design and mechanical performances can be compared with other “standard” configurations.Pubblicazioni consigliate
