The effects of tire pressure on fuel consumption and vehicle dynamics are analyzed as part of a study which involves the design and the development of a central tire inflation system for passenger vehicles. The system is designed to be fail-safe and highly integrated within the standard wheel-end architecture of a passenger car. The system architecture is studied and tested on a test-bench. High flexibility allows to adapt tire inflation pressure to vehicle working conditions: some possible pressure management strategies are discussed together with a brief comment on their fuel-economy potential.

Abstract
The effects of tire pressure on fuel consumption and vehicle dynamics are analyzed as part of a study which involves the design and the development of a central tire inflation system for passenger vehicles. The system is designed to be fail-safe and highly integrated within the standard wheel-end architecture of a passenger car. The system architecture is studied and tested on a test-bench. High flexibility allows to adapt tire inflation pressure to vehicle working conditions: some possible pressure management strategies are discussed together with a brief comment on their fuel-economy potential.Pubblicazioni consigliate
