Measurements of Young's modulus, internal friction and magnetic-permeability after-effect have been performed on two different ferromagnetic amorphous ribbons submitted to plastic deformation and subsequent stress relaxation at constant strain. A structural transformation, most probably involving a change in the magnetic-domain structure, is induced by plastic deformation in Fe67Co18B14Si, and subsequently inhibited by stress relaxation. A possible mechanism for such an effect is proposed.

Abstract
