Earlier works, here briefly summarized, described the experimental techniques used for the stress analysis of the stem–femur coupling. Special strain-gauge transducers were constructed in the shape of endoprosthesis stems, to be implanted in test femurs. Four types of such transducers have been evolved, in order to overcome problems encountered during tests. The transducers are described, and results obtained with the third of these are shown in detail.
