This paper presents the use of different automated optimisation procedures in the design of the magnetic system for a Caesium frequency standard. During the design of the system two optimisations have been performed: one concerning the shimming of a high homogeneity solenoid magnet and another one regarding the two permanent magnet dipoles that are used for the selection of the Caesium atoms. In this last case a finite element magnetostatic solver and a code for the ray tracing of Caesium atoms have been used in conjunction to evaluate the objective function of the optimisation.

Abstract
This paper presents the use of different automated optimisation procedures in the design of the magnetic system for a Caesium frequency standard. During the design of the system two optimisations have been performed: one concerning the shimming of a high homogeneity solenoid magnet and another one regarding the two permanent magnet dipoles that are used for the selection of the Caesium atoms. In this last case a finite element magnetostatic solver and a code for the ray tracing of Caesium atoms have been used in conjunction to evaluate the objective function of the optimisation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
