The integration of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) methods, particularly Near-Infrared (NIR) and Raman spectroscopy, has become essential in the pharmaceutical industry. These techniques provide real-time insights into critical quality attributes throughout the manufacturing process, aligning with the Quality by Design (QbD) framework. NIR spectroscopy excels in non-destructive and rapid measurements, particularly for monitoring residual moisture in biopharmaceuticals, ensuring product stability and efficacy. Raman spectroscopy complements NIR by offering high specificity and the ability to analyse aqueous-based samples without extensive preparation. To extract meaningful information from the complex spectral data generated by these techniques, multivariate data analysis is needed, enabling the identification of patterns and relationships that enhance understanding of product behaviour. Together, these methods enhance understanding of product behaviour, facilitate advanced process control, and improve data interpretation through multivariate analysis. The adoption of NIR and Raman spectroscopy not only transforms manufacturing processes but also ensures the delivery of high-quality therapeutics.
