Da una sede all'altra: gerarchie insediative e strategie di rinnovamento urbano per il nuovo palazzo comunale a Mondovì (XVI-XIX sec.)

This essay examines the three successive locations of Mondovì’s town hall over different historical periods, each situated in one of the boroughs that compose the city in southwestern Piedmont. It analyzes the economic, cultural, and political dynamics that led to the prioritization of certain areas over others. Special attention is given to the 19th-century relocation of the town hall to the lower part of the city, an area undergoing redefinition following the decline of its manufacturing sector, which had left many industrial buildings abandoned. The designation of this district as the new administrative center triggered a rapid process of urban transformation. Drawing on a wide range of heterogeneous sources, the study adopts a comparative approach to uncover previously overlooked aspects of urban and architectural strategies in the late 19th century.
