An aspect of the present invention relates to a device (10) for flow forcing of a fluid, the device comprising: a first electrode arrangement (A), in particular a set of dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators or a set of corona discharge plasma actuators, the first electrode arrangement (A) comprising: a reference electrode (12) having a length extending along a first axis and a width extending along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis; a first array (14a) of electrodes (Ea) disposed at the reference electrode (12) and arranged substantially along the first axis; and wherein the reference electrode (12) is insulated from the first array (14a) and all electrodes of the first array (14a) are insulated from each other; wherein the device (10), in particular the first electrode arrangement (A), when the electrodes (Ea) of the first array and/or the reference electrode (12) are supplied with a plurality of voltage signals, is configured to generate, in the fluid: a stationary fluid wave being aligned substantially along the first axis, oscillating substantially along the second axis and being stationary substantially along the first axis; or a travelling fluid wave being aligned substantially along the first axis, oscillating substantially along the second axis and propagating substantially along the first axis. Further aspects of the present invention relate to a method for flow forcing of a fluid and a use of said device for flow forcing of a fluid.
