Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and malignant primary brain tumor in adults. Despite advances in biological understanding, as emphasized in the 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) classification, prognosis of GBM remains poor. Surgical resection is the cornerstone of treatment significantly influencing progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). A balance between the extent of resection and neurological function preservation is of utmost importance in the treatment of this tumor. The therapeutic options have remained largely unchanged from the introduction of Stupp Protocol. The current management of GBM is presented in this chapter focusing on the current trends and hot topics of newly diagnosed glioblastoma of the adults.

Abstract
Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and malignant primary brain tumor in adults. Despite advances in biological understanding, as emphasized in the 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) classification, prognosis of GBM remains poor. Surgical resection is the cornerstone of treatment significantly influencing progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). A balance between the extent of resection and neurological function preservation is of utmost importance in the treatment of this tumor. The therapeutic options have remained largely unchanged from the introduction of Stupp Protocol. The current management of GBM is presented in this chapter focusing on the current trends and hot topics of newly diagnosed glioblastoma of the adults.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
