Ernst Jünger. Lo Stato di fronte alla tecnica

The essay deals with the category of the world state in Ernst Jünger’s thought. Since his earliest writings, Jünger places politics in a planetary dimension that explodes the boundaries of the nation state, following the impetus of technology and the martial character it has shown during World War I. This planetary mark translates into the prefiguration of a total state, dictatorial internally and expansionist externally, which coexists with others greater spaces, with a similar imperial aspiration. In a second phase, which begins with World War II and is characterized by a marked metaphysical turn, Jünger prophesizes the advent of the world state, which should transcend the opposition between East and West ushering in a post-historical and post-political situation and finally securing world peace.
