The invention consists of a new method for performing non-linear dynamic analyses on gear models, using the coupled Harmonic Balancing Method. The system of equations of motion of the system, initially expressed in the time domain, is instead expressed in the frequency domain. This transformation is possible given that the quantities involved (generalized displacements and forces) are periodic, they can therefore be expressed as a Fourier series from the 0th order to an arbitrarily large order. The 0th order represents the static problem, while subsequent orders are associated with the dynamics of the system. The new system of non-linear equations is therefore solved fully coupled, considering all orders simultaneously ensuring the accuracy of the solution.
