The European Landscape Convention offers a set of principles for the conservation of landscapes, encompassing both natural and cultural dimensions. This study explores how the Convention is applied in the case of the Carthusian monasteries, historically religious complexes deeply intertwined with their surrounding environments. While some current preservation efforts tend to focus primarily on religious architecture, often neglecting the broader territorial heritage, others adopt a more integrated approach. These initiatives aim to enhance the entire cultural landscape of Carthusian sites, promoting a more comprehensive understanding of their historical and environmental significance.

Abstract
The European Landscape Convention offers a set of principles for the conservation of landscapes, encompassing both natural and cultural dimensions. This study explores how the Convention is applied in the case of the Carthusian monasteries, historically religious complexes deeply intertwined with their surrounding environments. While some current preservation efforts tend to focus primarily on religious architecture, often neglecting the broader territorial heritage, others adopt a more integrated approach. These initiatives aim to enhance the entire cultural landscape of Carthusian sites, promoting a more comprehensive understanding of their historical and environmental significance.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
