This essay retraces the early history of Aktiebolaget (AB) Skånska cementgjuteriet, Sweden’s first concrete construction company and reinforced concrete contractor, founded in Lomma, near Malmö, in 1887. This research highlights the key role that AB Skånska played in Sweden’s architectural and engineering history during the first half of the twentieth century, as the company contributed to several building sites and infrastructural projects. Furthermore, the essay also analyses the material sway which the firm had on the country’s landscape.
