Both a home and an object to assemble, this project places the work of Menghi somewhere between industrial design and architecture: designed for the assembly of self-supporting sandwich panels in polyester glass insulated with polyurethane foam, the Guscio cabin consists of four corners, a capped roof and central infills that allow multiple units to be placed side by side in a range of functional configurations with different accommodation capacities, all taking advantage of the mahogany frames that support the joints. Mounted on a simple platform in treated wood and not requiring any foundation, Guscio embodies an approach to tourism based on reversibility, temporariness and respect for the surrounding landscape.
