n the early modern period, since the middle of the sixteenth to the end of the eighteenth century, en- gineers and architects who worked in Piedmont, in the sabaudian dukedom and in the capital-city Turin became a European example of technical professionals because of their role in the society. Their knowledge, leaned on a furthered technical education, their presence in many public councils and their works permit them to became privileged speakers and mediators between the central au- thority, the State, and the local power, the Municipality.
