The ancient centre of Poggioreale is one of the fourteen villages most damaged by the disastrous earthquake that struck western Sicily in 1968. Subjected, almost inexplicably, to the total transfer, Poggioreale still presents today, more than fifty years after its abandonment, a relevant consistency. Recently new initiatives for its valorisation have been started under the address of minimal changes to the state of the places and the creation of a niche tourism.

Abstract
The ancient centre of Poggioreale is one of the fourteen villages most damaged by the disastrous earthquake that struck western Sicily in 1968. Subjected, almost inexplicably, to the total transfer, Poggioreale still presents today, more than fifty years after its abandonment, a relevant consistency. Recently new initiatives for its valorisation have been started under the address of minimal changes to the state of the places and the creation of a niche tourism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
