At the beginning of the 17th century, in Turin, the building of the new church consecrated to the Corpus Domini, in order to remember the Eucharistic miracle of Ss. Sacramento happened in 1453 and just celebrated by an oratory built in 1526, scarred the meaningful urban space between the Municipality, the ducal power and the Church. Considering different models already adopted during the Counter Reform, the project, attributed to the famous engineer Ascanio Vitozzi and, then, to Carlo di Castellamonte who drew the façade, started in 1603.
