How can we describe the way in which an object signifies? This is the question that semioticians interested in objects have to answer. But, this question can not be taken for granted: it presupposes a certain idea of what semiotics is and what semiotics can and should do. Within the wide and manifold domain of semiotics other questions cou ld be raised and assumed as guidance for research . Through this question I suppose that objects do signify and, thus, that they are a legi t imate subject for semiotic inquiry. Additiona lly, this question suggests that "the way in which an object signifies" has to be described and that semioticians would be able to describe objects' signification.

Abstract
How can we describe the way in which an object signifies? This is the question that semioticians interested in objects have to answer. But, this question can not be taken for granted: it presupposes a certain idea of what semiotics is and what semiotics can and should do. Within the wide and manifold domain of semiotics other questions cou ld be raised and assumed as guidance for research . Through this question I suppose that objects do signify and, thus, that they are a legi t imate subject for semiotic inquiry. Additiona lly, this question suggests that "the way in which an object signifies" has to be described and that semioticians would be able to describe objects' signification.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
