Conservation of biodiversity is certainly one of the most urgent challenges that needs to be addressed to counteract ecosystem fragmentation and the risks and threats associated with global economic, social, and climatic changes generated by urbanization and territorial infrastructure processes, and to overcome environmental and health crises. Crises and changes have significant effects on natural and cultural heritage, the resilience of territories and cities, and the health of the planet and humanity. In this regard, policies and planning at different scales must act in concert to promote a leap forward in the territorial system towards nature-based recovery or a nature-positive economy, as called for at the IUCN Congress in Marseille 2021 Our nature, our future, knowing how to integrate site-based conservation and development as a driving force to redefine the alliance between humans and nature. In theoretical terms, to redefine the alliance between humans and nature, overcome the great acceleration of human impact on biodiversity, and integrate ecological transition into planning and management at different scales, it is necessary to consider the differences and common elements between sustainability and resilience theories. This topic has been explored by practices.
