Tackling Climate Change is one of the most crucial challenges of the 21st Century. Man-made Green House Gas (GHG) emission has caused a mutation of the world environment, with terrible consequences for life on earth. Through several climate agreements, world governments have emphasized the importance of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. For these reasons, the European Union has set up strategies and guidelines for the transition to an efficient, fair, and sustainable built environment. Among the range of innovative plans is the Whole Life Carbon Vision (WLCV): a programmatic vision to decarbonize the Building and Construction sector by 2050. The paper aims to illustrate twofold activities, within the NZEB Cluster, by research group TeAM (Tecnologia e AMbiente) of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Politecnico di Torino. On the one hand, it shows the ongoing project AMICO (Accounted Method of Infrastructure embodied CarbOn), which attempts to assess the Embodied Carbon (EC) emissions of infrastructures works. On the other hand, it illustrates the project ABE4COB (Adaptive Building Envelope 4 COmplex Building), where the decarbonization matter is addressed in the operational phase: working on the building’s envelope.

Abstract
On the other hand, it illustrates the project ABE4COB (Adaptive Building Envelope 4 COmplex Building), where the decarbonization matter is addressed in the operational phase: working on the building’s envelope.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
