Houses by Danilo Trogu

The houses created by Danilo Trogu make up a series, beginning in 1980 and ending—perhaps temporarily —in 2016. Roughly thirty houses, assembled by one maker who works unaided with a primary material: clay. The houses were created without any drawings, without the involvement of the ratio of measurement that architects, surveyors and interior designers depend on so much. No scale is shown; the relationship with “reality” (reduction in size, reproduction of existing houses, customs of the disciplinary tradition of ceramic art) is not ignored, but interiorised.
