Strategy

The practice of architecture is constantly immersed in the contingency of the real world. This assumption becomes crucial considering when the purpose of a scheme is to concretely contribute to the design process. In this regard, from a pragmatist perspective, producing a diagram as part of an action strategy means avoiding forms of essentialism and tel­eologism. The productive instrumentality of a device like a di agram depends on the one hand, on the inclusion of the diversions which occur (or can occur) during a project and subsequently to organise and orientate them efficiently, and on the other hand, its adaptability to the accidents, controversies, and mutations that occur throughout the process. Following this reasoning, if the efficacy of a project is considered as the capacity to negotiate and associate the pluralistic instances arising during the action, the performativity of a diagram should also be based on its configuration as a map to navigate within that complex network.
