Learning from Experience. Towards a research agenda on rural accessibility

In this chapter, the editors provide their reflections on the insights presented in the various empirical chapters, with particular focus on the accessibility challenges that characterise the territories under scrutiny and on the methodologies and approaches that were adopted in each case. In particular, the contribution first presents and compares in a detailed manner the lessons learnt through their analysis, to then build on the consolidated experience to sketch out the boundaries of a tentative agenda for future research on rural accessibility. Building on the considerations proposed throughout the volume by the different authors, the editors shed light on the complexity that surrounds rural accessibility and the related challenges, and on how it may be possible to further unfold this complexity through research and policy in the future.
