The aim of this essay is twofold: on the one hand, it seeks to investigate the legacy of Olivetti's industrial and communication project in Latin America, and on the other, it sets out to clarify the role played by the company during the Olympic Games in Mexico City (12-27 October 1968). The period considered regards 1949 as the starting point when an embryonic Olivetti sales outlet was taking shape in Mexico City, and 1968, the year of the XIX Olympic Games, as the final date. By 1968 the company had reached the peak of its fame in Mexico after a continuous growth in terms of turnover and sales of writing and computing products.
