TRANSFORMATION OF PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND REGEN-ERATION PROCESSES. THE “APPELS A PROJETS URBAINS INNO-VANTS” (APUI) MODEL IN FRANCE

In France, the plans for innovative projects and transitional urban planning – including the “Réinventer Paris”, “Réinventer la Seine”, “Inventer la Métropole du Grand Paris”, “Reinventing Cities”, and “Réinventer Rural” competitions – have promoted new transformation models for degenerating and neglected sites. The “Appels à projets urbains innovants” (APUI) are hereby analysed in terms of changes in the procedure model, in the interactions between public and private actors, in the forms of incentives to the local collective initiatives, and in the market in terms of social-environmental space regeneration goals.
