The architectura/ and cultura/ legacy le by the Rivetti fami/y concerns a large urban area, which aver time has become a centrai part of the cityof Biella. The preliminary study of the properties - the complex of industriai buildings of the beginning of the Novecento, waiting tor intervention and in increasing degradation - regards the historical research and the survey aimed at analysis and assessment of the state of the buildings, identifying the construction technology and the materials. The study is focused on the patrimonial enhancement of the existing through new functions, in relation to the current regulatory pian and the prospect of a variation. The scenario is urban regeneration through adaptive reuse, accordingto environmental sustainability, landscape restoration and limitation of land consumption. The prospect is of recovenng the two adjacent industriai buildings in the Cervo valley to create a historical cultura/ path. The first building deve/ops vertical/y on 3 floors. The feasibility of re-use outlined concerns co-working, tertiary and compatible production activities on the ground floor, in addition to different forms ofhousing on the upper floors. The second one, instead, develops horizontally with a shed roof and can include tertiary­commercial spaces, reception, common covered square and museum exhibition area, in arder to maintain and testify the historica/ memory of the piace. Severa/ technological solutions are proposed tor adaptive recovery, which improves the structural capacity and which meets the current expectations of building envelope performance, in fine with the activities that can be located.
