The fiber laser market has rocketed by more than 10 % in the last decades and as, a consequence, multi-emitter laser diode modules, which constitutes the fiber laser pump sources have seen a sharp increase in sales. Until now, the design process for a high coupling efficiency laser diode module is still mainly based on commercial ray tracing simulation tools and a trial and error approach. Such a design methodology lowers designers’ productivity, extends the development cycle and increases R&D cost. Nowadays more and more customers need customised manufacturing to meet their specific requirements which means that R&D and production functions must respond immediately to customers’ input by providing reliable and mature solutions ready for volume production. To overcome the flows of conventional design, we have developed a model based on Gaussian beam optics that has been validated by an extensive set of experiments. This model is used to design the multi-emitter laser diode modules that will be produced in the white’R Island.

Abstract
This model is used to design the multi-emitter laser diode modules that will be produced in the white’R Island.Pubblicazioni consigliate
