The Culture of the City is a central theme in Architecture. The attempt to bring attention back to the values that characterised the image of cities of the past seems to be one of the few keys to understanding and interpreting the contemporary city. This comes at a time when built-up areas are expanding out of proportion and without control, driven by the laws of economics and the rules of quantitative growth, rather than by consistency with history, traditional construction methods and the principles that underpin settlements,. This would avoid standardisation and monotonous globalisation. The Culture of the City focuses on using the lens of the history of Architecture, architectural and urban design, and architectural technology to explore the changes and transformations of the city in the third millennium. The intention is to provide interpretational tools and operative suggestions for new perspectives to make the most of historical and environmental assets, to regenerate the spaces of the city and to re-semantize living spaces. Hence it becomes an operative expedient to propose new scenarios for urban renewal, value enhancement and regeneration of public spaces.

Abstract
Hence it becomes an operative expedient to propose new scenarios for urban renewal, value enhancement and regeneration of public spaces.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
