This paper is a progress report on FINUDA, a detector dedicated to the spectroscopy and decay modes of Λ‐hypernuclei produced from K− at rest. It will be installed at DAΦNE, the φ‐factory in construction at the Frascati National Laboratory. The detector will exploit at best the properties of the K−from φ decay, that have ∼16 MeV and are background free and tagged. Even at the initial luminosity of DAΦNE L=1032 cm−2 s−1 an unprecedented step forward in Hypernuclear Physics is expected.

Abstract
This paper is a progress report on FINUDA, a detector dedicated to the spectroscopy and decay modes of Λ‐hypernuclei produced from K− at rest. It will be installed at DAΦNE, the φ‐factory in construction at the Frascati National Laboratory. The detector will exploit at best the properties of the K−from φ decay, that have ∼16 MeV and are background free and tagged. Even at the initial luminosity of DAΦNE L=1032 cm−2 s−1 an unprecedented step forward in Hypernuclear Physics is expected.Pubblicazioni consigliate
