The objective of this essay is to describe two applications of simulation tools in relation to different scale of urban issues and their aptness for one of the most crucial development of Turin (named “Variante 200”). The latter is the case study upon which the applications described in this article evolved. At the large scale, Urban Sim model was applied and some lessons are critically presented. The simulation model is based on the location studies of workers-households-jobs, and land use plans. Abstract
This paper describes an application of two simulation tools in relation to one of the larger transformations areas in the Turin metropolitan area. What is the role of today’s simulation models in urban and regional planning is a rather controversial topic. At the small scale, Space syntax simulation was applied for an international design completion and become the strategic tool for structuring qualifying design choices for the urban public realm.Pubblicazioni consigliate
